Saturday, March 28, 9:30-12:30AM
Spend a morning making a cross out of clay to hang on a wall. In this workshop, each participant will be provided with a slab of porcelain clay and tools to craft their own artwork.
Led by potter Sarah Stanley, we’ll explore various techniques for decoration including carving, stamping, sprigging (attaching additional clay ornamentation), and adding texture. Participants will have time and extra clay to practice and test their ideas before constructing their final piece.
Each finished cross will be taken to Sarah’s home studio, fired to cone 6, and glazed with the workshop participant’s choice of glaze (10 different glaze options will be provided).
Experience with clay is not necessary, and all skill levels are welcome. Please dress for some mess.
Space is limited to 12 participants. Cost is $62, inclusive of materials (+ coffee and morning treats from our neighborhood bakery, Brake Bread!)
Sarah Stanley is a studio potter, and owner of Red Tree Clay. She loves working with porcelain to make pottery for daily life.
